About This Blog

“When we humans speak, we are not merely communicating information but attempting to make an impression and achieve a goal.”

(Francine Prose, Reading Like a Writer, p. 144)

This blog is filled with insights/revelations/tips about the power of persuasion not only on the individual, but also on large groups of people.

And the following five ideas have guided the development of this blog:

1. Your Personal HumanPersuasion:

YOU WERE BORN WITH THREE ADS…

Each one of them has a certain power to persuade humanity.

These three are GOD-given.

Here is the order in which you present your naturally given ads to those you wish to influence; or, said another way the order in which others first begin to learn about you.

Notice that each of these are non-verbal (& non-vocal):

  1. Gender–this is a 50/50 situation (M/F); it’s the first signal you give off & first thing any other human being will know/recognize about you (even if subconsciously).
  2. Ethnicity–this is the second most powerful ad in your personal arsenal, as it’s the second thing anyone will know of you. This recognition likely begins at infancy.
  3. Age/Proportions/Body Type, etc.–those physical traits readily promoted at a glance &/or easy to be observed, are grasped by others thirdly. (Age can get tricky for adults, but not for kids…b/c for them age is probably the first thing they notice about another)
  4. Apparel–the 1st ad with which you get to choose HOW you will be perceived!…WHAT YOU ARE WEARING.

2. Your HumanPersuasion Pursuits

As a human being you may choose from one of three career paths, and whatever persuasive messaging you choose to implement will appear in one of the following contexts:

  1. Business
  2. Politics
  3. Religion
  4. Relationships is also an option, but debatable whether this is actually a “career path.” This is more likely one of the most important components of pursuits #1-3.

3. Your HumanPersuasion Messaging:

All your persuasive messages within your pursuit will take one of three written forms.

  1. Creative: imaginative and entertaining, you may speak/write to amuse and delight your audience
  2. Informative: journalistic and objective, you may speak/write to deliver information to your audience
  3. Poetic: distinctive and insightful, you may speak/write to offer your audience a new perspective

4. Then, Your HumanPersuasion Messages will be:

  1. read (by Readers),
  2. heard (by Listeners) or
  3. seen (by Viewers).

5. Finally, The Goals of Your HumanPersuasion:

(NEVER MIND WHICH SPECIFIC PURSUIT YOU’VE CHOSEN.

NEVER MIND YOUR SELECTION OF MEDIA OUTLET TO PROMOTE YOUR MESSAGE.)

Regardless, the goal of ALL your messaging efforts is…

…you want to write/produce messages that make your Readers/Listeners/Viewers:

  1. Stop
  2. Pay Attention &
  3. Respond

So, what relevant things are you saying to your audience to leave powerful impressions in their mind?

“…there are two ways to cause people to take action. One is pain and the other is pleasure.”

(Joe Vitale, Hypnotic Writing, p. 60)
